Ali Anderson completed a Bachelor of Fine Art majoring in Painting, from the National Art School, Sydney in 2021 where she was awarded the Trenna Austin Gallery Prize for Abstract Painting. She has completed a diploma from the School of Colour and Design and attended life drawing classes at the Julian Ashton Art School. Anderson moved with her family to Bali and Cambodia for ten years and it was there that she developed an interest in Southeast Asian Art, particularly inspired by the textiles and batiks of Indonesia and the reliefs on the temples in Cambodia. Returning to Sydney she continued her love of travel and interest in Asian cultures, working as a travel designer specialising in travel to India, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. She has been a finalist in the MAP Portrait Prize (2024), National Emerging Art Prize (2023) and the Clyde & Co Art Award (2022) as well as receiving a commended award at the Singleton Art Prize (2023). Anderson currently lives in regional NSW where she divides her time between managing her small herd of cattle, honing her gardening skills and continuing her painting practice.
